MIA
It cannot be a good thing when you run into a certain wedding photographer (who shall remain nameless) and he/she calls you out on not updating your website. So here I am!!
2011 has been quite an eventful year so I apologize for being MIA..
Anyhow, I’d like to rewind back to May. My oldest friend, Hong-An got married. Our moms are friends so we’ve known each other since we were wee kids. My favorites from the wedding were the life size cardboard cutouts of Hong-An, Hamilton, and their dog as well as the couple’s grand entrance singing “My Boo.” Hands down.. the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding
Take a look at the video of their wedding shot by Randy from Chiara Cinema.

Below are photos of Hong An taken by Youkeun Oh.

San Jolie
I was contacted for hair and makeup for San’s wedding by her fiance and I was caught off guard because this was not typical. Later I found out that San was a flight attendant and is usually away for work 5 days @ a time. It was hard for us to correspond directly and we weren’t able to meet up to do a preview. On the wedding day everything went smoothly, especially since San knew exactly what she wanted: BIG MESSY HAIR. Needless to say, she definitely pulled it off!

While I was doing San’s makeup, her friend and photographer, Phuc, jokingly called her “San Jolie” because she has great, full lips.. I’m so jealous!

This last one’s my absolute favorite..

Bon. Jane Bon.
Jane and I have known each other since our VSA days in high school. A decade has passed.. and she recently married Peter, who has been her boyfriend for as long as I’ve known her.
Not only is it nice to see an old friend but it’s especially great to be a part of their big day! It’s truly my pleasure to post these photos of Jane + Peter from their e-session and wedding day, shot by Mimi Nguyen Photography.

How can you not love her smile!?

Here’s Jane in her Vietnamese “ao dai” dress and “khan dong” hat for the tea ceremony

Meet Daniel and Jenn, who are just too cute for words. I was referred to Jenn by her wedding planner, the fabulous Catherine Cindy Leo. I did Jenn’s makeup for both her e-session and wedding day and she was just a doll!
Click on the photo below to see the highlights of Jenn and Daniel’s wedding, shot by Peter Chang (Studio205Films). It will make you melt ♥
You’ll also see why their wedding was featured on the blogs Style Unveiled and Style Me Pretty!

Here are some closeups of Jenn’s getting ready photos on the day of, shot @ the Viceroy. Photos are courtesy of Youkeun Oh Photography.

from sri lanka with ♥
I would have to say that Hazel was my very first Sri Lankan bride! Hazel got married last fall at Occidental College in LA. I recall us having to run around campus in search of the ideal spot to do makeup, which was worth it because we found a huge empty room without any distractions. It was the perfect setting for the bride moments before having to walk down the aisle
What struck me the most about Hazel was her amazing attitude, I’m sure, is hard to maintain when planning your wedding! I had such a blast with her.
Here are my favorite shots of the day, taken by Zenia Photography.

It means so much when previous clients post up reviews of my work. I was so touched by Hazel’s review that I wanted to share it
I cannot say enough good things about Angie! Besides making me look INCREDIBLE on my wedding day, she was so sweet and pleasant to be around – not to mention punctual, professional, and very responsive in communication.
I did a trial and wedding day makeup sessions with her. She was fabulous each session and used great products on me. I absolutely loved her work and could not have asked for anything more! I am super picky with coloring and skin tone and she nailed it, without me mentioning a thing.
She was already booked the morning of my wedding and only had time to do my makeup, or I would have had her do my hair as well. Even though she knew she wouldn’t be doing my hair – she helped me figure out what kind of style to do for the wedding! Who DOES that?? She goes above and beyond to provide excellence for her clients.
You will not regret booking with Angie – she is one in a million!

thao ties the knot!
Thao and I are friends from junior high. As a matter of fact, here’s an old picture of us that a mutual friend happened to post on fb the other day!

And 13 years later.. she’s the first one to get married
It was such a pleasure to do Thao’s hair and makeup for her big day. Her look is simple, yet elegant. Very classy!

I wanted to show you this close up of Thao’s hairpiece. I’m always telling my brides that I’m a fan of fresh flowers or unique hairpieces such as this one. (Thao got her hair piece and birdcage at ETSY.com -they have TONS of original hand made goods)

seaside wedding cont’d..
Here are some of my favorite shots of Annie’s hair and makeup. Since the wedding was outdoors and by the beach, we swept her hair half up in soft curls and the flowers were a perfect touch.

Aren’t they an adorable couple?!

the perfect summer wedding
A couple months ago I had the opportunity to do Annie’s wedding at the Ocean View Villas in San Diego. Annie is from New York, so this was her destination wedding. I completely fell in love with this venue-it’s unique and intimate; and best of all, it over looks the ocean
For now here’s the link to her slide show, courtesy of En Point Photography. More photos to come!

what I’ve been up to…
It’s been quite a summer! I’ve finally found the time to sit down and work on some new additions, so check back for more updates
If I haven’t mentioned before, an awesome perk of my job is getting to meet such talented photographers and videographers. It really is amazing how a picture or video can capture these once in a lifetime moments..
Here are some highlights of hair and makeup I’ve done over the past few months:

Hair and makeup for Jackie’s e-session shot by Caroline Tran. Their wedding will be coming up in October 2010!

Shot of Ly’s wedding back in April. Aren’t they adorable?? Taken by Andrew Photographic.

Hair and makeup for Xuan’s wedding in May.

(Click on above photo to see video)
And to wrap up, here’s the video of Myling’s wedding shot by Aaron of Artisan Production. (Will update with closeups of Myling’s hair and makeup soon!)
In a few weeks I’m off to do my cousin’s wedding in Germany! I can’t wait!
