karisa wedding
Working on a bride that’s photogenic as Karisa makes my job so awesome! Her wedding was back in August and I had the opportunity to team up with a fellow hair/makeup artist, Kimi Vu. Together we did hair and makeup for the bridal party, both mothers, and the bride.
I am also including a shot from the preview as well as a review that Karisa left for us on Project Wedding. These photos from the wedding day were taken by Eva Lempert.

elisia wedding
Back in July I had the pleasure of doing Elisia’s hair and makeup on her big day. We put in extensions so that she could have more volume for her backdo and individual eye lashes to achieve a more natural look. Elisia is naturally so classy and elegant! I am thrilled to finally be putting these pictures up.
It was also my first time working with the photographer Tauran & I am now a big fan of his work. Check out the slideshow he compiled; it truly captures the essence and beauty of a wedding.

johnna ho photo shoot
A couple of weeks ago I had the privelege to work with the ever so talented Jason Q. Tran on a photoshoot. Johnna Ho, a wedding gown designer in New York, sent over her latest wedding gowns for us to shoot.
I can’t get over how awesome these pictures turned out! Here are some of my favorites; the rest are on my beauty.fashion page.
… And yes, we shot this on a rooftop!!

catching up
The summer has gone by in a breeze! Now that school has started, I’m squeezing in trials and e-sessions during the weekday evenings and filling my weekends with weddings. September especially is going to be one heck of a month. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to. For now, I’ll start with these.
Tracy Chang Trial & E-Session
Tracy found me through project wedding. As a matter of fact, I believe she booked ALL her wedding vendors through project wedding. I gotta tell you.. this site is a real treat for anyone planning their wedding.
Tracy likes the idea of having her hair down for the ceremony but I also wanted to change it up and do a low messy backdo for the evening look.

Two days later I came back to do Tracy’s E-Session.

Ashley Tran Trial
Ashley was actually referred to me by Jason Q. Tran. That just means I’m looking forward to doing her e-session in October and her wedding in February with Jason as her photographer! I’m sooo excited.
Ashley does not wear much makeup on a daily basis except for foundation. She wanted extremely light and fresh makeup. I absolutely love her hair piece, which isn’t too overpowering since she’s going so natural. This is a key factor when determining your bridal look: not to go overboard but to achieve that classic bridal glam.

Nam Doan Wedding
I did Nam’s E-session earlier this year; you can see it in my portfolio section. I also did her sister Trang’s wedding on July 4th at the Hyatt PCH. It was an incredible wedding and I will post up pictures from that very soon.
Nam made my life as a makeup artist simply heaven! She has got to be one of the people I’ve enjoyed working with the most. Here’s a quick shot I got of her before she left to her reception.

candy & caviar part II
The Candy&Caviar Spring/Summer 2010 looks are up! Here are some of my favorite shots of the models I did hair and makeup for.
You can also take a look at a behind the scenes video on their blog to get a glimpse of how it’s like on set of a photoshoot ;]

jenilyn photo shoot
Last Monday I spent the day doing a hair & makeup gig at a gorgeous beachfront house in Dana Point. Jenilyn is an aspiring actress and needed some headshots taken. In her first few weeks starting out she’s already been on set for HOUSE & Entourage. I’m definitely a fan of people who have the guts to go out and pursue what they dream of. Here are some shots from the photoshoot, taken by JP Greenwood.
OH! And on a random side note, Jenilyn and I found out we have the same birthday. How cool is that!

diana’s preview session
I met Diana at Lifetime’s Debut show back in February. We met today to try do some looks for her wedding coming up in December. Vietnamese brides often have difficulty deciding how to do their hair when they have to consider how it will look with a “khan dong” on their head. Such was the case for Diana, but we decided to do a quick, simple updo for the traditional part of the wedding and then switch over to something a little more classic for the rest of the day. Here are the looks we created for her.

a quick recap
I had quite the weekend!! Aside from the ridiculous heat, I had an awesome weekend. Here are a few quick shots of the gigs I did. More pictures to come once I get them from the photgraphers ;]
Saturday, July 18
Tran Chung Wedding, Woodland Hills, CA
Here’s Tran wearing the traditional Vietnamese “khan dong” & “ao dai,” where she’s getting ready to walk outside to start the tea ceremony. We did daytime smokey eyes with the eyeshadow quad Beiges de Chanel, Chanel’s In Love blush, and a mix of coral/pink on the lips. I’m so jealous of her dimples!

Sunday, July 19
Elisia Sim Wedding, Diamond Bar, CA
I LOVE Elisia’s hair piece that she has seen below; for anyone who’s curious, she got it from birdcageveils.com. She also wore a birdcage veil but I wasn’t able to get a shot. As you can see from the blurriness of the shots, I was in hurry to capture these pictures!

mindy preview session
Today I did Mindy’s hair and makeup trial for her wedding coming up in 2 months. Mindy was prepared: she knew exactly what she wanted for both hair and makeup and had showed me several pictures previously. The length and fullness of her hair was perfect for the look we were going for: full luscious curls with just a little hair pulled up to rest the tiara on. Mindy’s wedding is going to be outdoors in September so she wanted a fresh look for the daytime. We went for a soft crease during the day and bumped up the eyes a little smokier for the evening look. With the hair and makeup complete, Mindy looks like she’s in a beauty pageant!

Mindy’s daytime look

The daytime look was created using Chanel’s Nymphea quad palette

A closeup of Mindy’s evening look: I added just a hint of red to the pink on her lips …

And a soft smoky sweep of greyish-brown to the lids

This same tiara Mindy’s wearing is the one her mom wore for her own wedding!
